Step 2 of 3 • Choose Measuring Method
Measure your wrist or match an existing piece.
⭕How to Match: Place your existing bangle, ring, or hoop flat on the gold circle below. Adjust until the inner rim matches.
Everything you need to know about measuring wrists, calculating sizing ease, and choosing between bracelet, watch, and bangle sizes.
Wrap a flexible measuring tape around your wrist just below the wrist bone (towards your hand, where a watch or bracelet sits naturally). Make sure the tape is flush against the skin without digging in or constricting. Read the number where the zero mark overlaps. For best results, measure in the afternoon, as wrists naturally expand slightly throughout the day.
You can use common household items: (1) Wrap a strip of paper around your wrist, mark the overlap with a pen, and measure it against a ruler or on-screen calibrated ruler. (2) Use a standard credit card (exactly 85.60 mm or 3.37 inches long) to gauge the length. (3) Use a US dollar bill (exactly 6.14 inches / 156 mm long) as a fast reference strip. (4) Use a charging cable or string and hold it against our interactive on-screen calibrated ruler.
It depends on your desired fit style: For a snug fit (delicate chains, tennis bracelets), add 0.5 cm (0.25 in). For a standard comfort fit (most chain and link bracelets), add 1.5 cm to 2.0 cm (0.75 in). For a loose or drape fit (heavy charm bracelets, chunky bangles), add 2.5 cm to 3.0 cm (1.0 to 1.25 in).
The most common women’s wrist size is 16.5 cm (6.5 inches), which corresponds to a 18–19 cm (7–7.5 inch) bracelet. The most common men’s wrist size is 18.5 cm (7.25 inches), which corresponds to a 20.5 cm (8 inch) bracelet.
Aesthetically, a watch dial and case should cover roughly 60% to 75% of your flat top wrist width. In circumference terms, the case diameter in millimeters should typically be 21% to 24% of your total wrist circumference in millimeters (e.g. a 170mm wrist pairs optimally with a 36mm to 40mm case).
Case diameter measures the horizontal width, but the Lug-to-Lug (L2L) measurement spans vertically from the top lug tip to the bottom lug tip. If the L2L distance exceeds the flat surface of your top wrist, the watch lugs will overhang in the air, creating an awkward, uncomfortable fit. Always ensure the L2L distance is shorter than your flat wrist width.
Unlike clasp bracelets that open up, rigid closed bangles must slide over the widest part of your hand (your knuckles) with the thumb tucked into the palm. Therefore, closed bangle sizes (like Indian 2-2, 2-4, 2-6, 2-8, etc.) are determined by your hand circumference divided by Pi (π), not your wrist circumference.
Indian bangle sizing is based on the inner diameter in inches and sixteenths of an inch. The first digit represents whole inches, and the second digit represents sixteenths (1/16"). For example, size 2-4 means 2 and 4/16 inches (2.25 inches or 57.2 mm inner diameter). Size 2-6 means 2 and 6/16 inches (2.375 inches or 60.3 mm).
Our on-screen tool uses standard ISO/IEC 7810 ID-1 credit card dimensions (85.60 mm) to calibrate your specific device display DPI. Once calibrated, you can place an existing physical bangle directly against your device screen and adjust the glowing circle until it fits the inner rim to read your exact size in millimeters, inches, and Indian sizing.
